Since it is my blog I will recap only the free agent predictions I got correct. The other ones we can just forget about...
Mark Teixeira- Yes I predicted the Yankees signing Teix but that was only after I thought C.C was going to the Angels. In my mind if C.C was waiting that long to sign the Yanks contract offer...he didn't want to be in New York. My bad.
Manny Ramirez- Was really a no brainer for everybody...besides Scott Boras and Manny. Dodgers were the only team that needed Manny, and they weren't going to bid against themselves. He is a perfect fit for the club until he gets upset over something, then it's all over.
Francisco Rodriguez- My thinking in the K-Rod to the Mets prediction was fairly straightforward. Mets take their biggest void and fill it with the best player at that position. Smart signing and he's Spanish, so he'll fit in perfectly. The media will still have to ask Wagner post game questions and he's not even on the team!
A.J Burnett- Again I had C.C signing with the Angels with The Yankees signing Derek Lowe, Teix and Burnett to compensate. I GUARENTEE Yankees will get at least ONE amazing year out of Burnett. The other years he'll probably be on the DL.
Adam Dunn- I knew the Nationals wanted a big bat and figured they would lose out on the Teix sweepstakes. With Lastings Milledge, Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn in the middle of the lineup who knows what could happen. Then you look at their starting rotation and you realize what WILL happen. Epic Failure.
Brian Fuentes- I just knew a highly competitive and competent Angels team wouldn't let a closer like K-Rod walk without someone to replace him. The Angels are pretty bad offensively, without Teix coming back they will be even worse. Plenty of save situations, Fuentes will have a plethora of chances to earn the teams trust.
Ivan Rodriguez- Honestly I pulled the Astros out of my ass. I tried to think of a veteran team would could use a nice bat...and I couldn't think of who the catcher was. Astros fit perfectly.
Rafael Furcal- After seeing what Furcal could do when healthy I knew Torre and the Dodgers wouldn't pass up on him.
Jamie Moyer/Jason Varitek- Both players mean more to their own teams then they would have anywhere else. Only made sense for them to stay put.
Not too bad huh?
