Is Grady Sizemore ready to be AL MVP?American League:
West Winner: The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
As much as it kills me, the Angels always find a way to win.
Bobby Abreu will fit in nicely with the team and is a lock for his usual 20 HR’s 100 RBI’s 100 runs scored and 20 SB’s. Their outfield is getting old quickly with Vlad, Torri Hunter and Abreu in the heart of the lineup.
Central Winner: The Cleveland Indians.
Now with this bold prediction I am counting on Victor Martinez having a bounce back year and praying Travis Hafner will stop making Andruw Jones look like Ted Williams. Indians need those power bats to compete against the White Sox and Twins.
East Winner: New York Yankees.
As a Yankee fan my biggest fear is the Bronx bombers actually playing games at a high level without A-rod, and struggling once he returns. That could really fuck up the franchise. You obviously can’t trade him, what would be your option? I can see Hammerin Hank picking up the sniper rifle right now. No not a sniper rifle, Hank Steinbrenner seems like a pickax type of murderer.
But for the first time since Clemens, Wells, Mussina, and Pettitte in 2003, Yankees are going to win with pitching. Enough of the Kevin Browns, Carl Pavano’s, Randy Johnson’s, Igawa’s and Wright’s.
CC, Wang, Burnett, Pettitte, Joba with Phil Hughes waiting for a shot.
Wildcard: Tampa Bay Rays.
Sorry Boston Red Sox you are shit out of luck. I hate you!
Tampa is going to enjoy one more year of success before the team starts falling apart via free agency with Carl Crawford being the first to go. But Crawford, Upton, Longoria, Pena, Burrell is pretty friggan scary and can compete with anybody in the American League.
Time for some individual awards.
MVP: Grady Sizemore.
I think the kid is due for a monster break out year. If Indians make the playoffs it could be on his back. A 40-40 year isn’t out of the question, and if he can get his average up he could very well be in the running for MVP.
Cy Young: Scott Kazmir.
With Kaz we have gotten the ERA at the right number, the strikeouts at the right number, now all we need is the wins. If healthy, and if Tampa stays competitive, this could finally be his year.
He has the ace stuff, now just needs to put it together for an entire season.
Rookie of the Year: Elvis Andrus from Texas
Andrus scouting report is an above-average defender who can hit .290 with 10-15 homers and 30 or more steals. In that hitting friendly park along with Young, Hamilton, (maybe Andruw Jones?) and a healthy Blalock, Andrus could really do some damage and earn himself Rookie of the year.
Batting Champ: Ichiro Suzuki
Been a few years for Ichiro, Seattle really has nothing else going on besides Griffey coming back...why not a batting champion to go along with him.
National League:
West Winner: Los Angeles Dodgers.
Only question mark is pitching, but Diamondbacks and Giants don't have enough to catch them. Interesting to see the type of offensive numbers they can put up with Furcal and Manny for a full year.
Central Winner: Chicago Cubs.
Deep as shit, they will own this division. If Harden can stay healthy and Dempster can repeat his career year, nothing will stop them.
East Winner: New York Mets.
Not sure how Putz will recover from his disastrous season last year, but K-Rod alone should give this team enough added wins to get into the postseason. They still lack a right handed power bat in the lineup, but I have a feeling they’ll get one midseason if needed. Pelfrey and Maine need to step up big time as well with Oliver Perez being the young, hard throwing left handed pitching enigma.
Wildcard: Philadelphia Phillies.
Really didn’t make any changes besides switching Ibanez for Burrell but the team is still the defending champs and will find a way into the postseason.
MVP: Albert Pujols.
Even though I have the Cardinals out of the postseason, Pujols puts up the type of numbers where it doesn’t matter where his team places. He hits for average, hits for power, hardly ever strikes out, let’s just pray he’s not on the juice. I can’t handle that.
Cy Young: Johan Santana.
Johan, meet your new best friend, K-Rod. With Mets strengthening their pen, Santana should keep his same strikeout rate and low ERA but add 20 wins to the mix.
Rookie of the Year: Cameron Maybin
The kid is oozing with talent and if Florida decides to place him in the outfield, rookie of the year honors aren’t far off.
Batting Champ: Albert Pujols
World Series: Yankees over Cubs in 6
